How do you define Palmtherapy?
Palm Therapy, as defined by Moshe Zwang, is the art and science of enhancing optimum potential, self-growth, fulfillment and success in all aspects of life through the stimulation of specific areas and lines in the hands which represent the energy pathways of various characteristics of the personality and brain/mind activities. Palm Therapy’s stimulation apparently bypasses the cognitive mind’s critique and disapproval for new changes in thinking and behavior patterns. Therefore, it leads to rapid corresponding changes in mood, behavior and thinking patterns, potential, talents, personality and eventually in one’s life. The process is done without effort or strain and can be enhanced anytime, anywhere. Although it helps in a wide range of mental disorders, Palm Therapy is not a replacement for psychotherapy and/or psychiatric/medical treatment. If such is needed the services of such professionals is strongly recommended.
What are the issues that Palm
therapy can handle best?
The rapid balancing effect of Palmtherapy on the mind is well noted when dealing with release from anxiety, traumatic memories, severe fears, phobias, anger and grief. You can watch some TV clips of documented cases by clicking video below.
Palmtherapy also has proved to be very helpful in the acceleration of positive thoughts and behavior patterns, talents, self-esteem, motivation, learning ability, willpower, mental clarity, magnetic personality, charisma, intuition, and success.
Note: Palmtherapy is not a replacement for psychotherapy and/or psychiatric/medical treatment. If such is needed the services of such professionals is strongly recommended.
How rapidly is the effect of Palm
therapy on the mind?
The more severe or acute the emotion is the more radical the shift is. For example: For phobias, anger, or grief it may take as little as 5 to 20 minutes to feel the change after locating the right area of stimulation on the hand. It varies from person to person. In some cases it may take longer and up to three sessions to desensitize one specific negative issue. Each session is usually an hour long. It includes the observation of the hands and then the stimulation of the line/s or area/s related to the aspect being handled.
If the issue is not related or connected to any other issues, one session may be enough. But since most cases are related or interconnected to more than one negative experiences in life, it is usually recommended to desensitize these as well. Most people, once they feel the amazing results of Palmtherapy usually choose to continue with Palmtherapy in order to process other aspects in their lives which lead to fulfillment and success.
The reshaping of the personality and life through Palmtherapy requires more than merely a one-time stimulation in certain areas and lines of the hands.
Does the stimulation hurt and how is it done?
No, it does not hurt. Palmtherapy is done by a moderate stimulation of carefully selected lines and areas of the hands. It is usually done with the thumbnail. The use of electro-stimulation T.E.N.S. machine or a non sharp pointed device is sometimes recommended.
How is it possible that a mere stimulation on the palms can affect emotions?
Throughout the years, it has been proven and documented by researchers of the brain that simulation for a few minutes in certain areas in the brain (directly and indirectly), can arouse emotions from overwhelming dread to pleasure and well-being. Stimulation of an area in the brain called the limbic system and other areas, as well, proved to evoke sensations such as anger, hate, guilt and love; childhood memories arose, too, during the process. With the use of electrodes implanted in various parts of the brain, researchers were able to turn these reactions on and off. The cause and effect relationship between the stimulation of the brain and the emotions or the behavioral changes were obvious. There are many billions of nerve cells, or neurons, in the brain The neurons have a spidery structure which enables them to form a network of interactions, forming gaps or synapses in the complex structure. Scientist found that stimulation of the skin surface, such as rubbing, can lead to various rapid chemical changes in the synaptic gaps which are accompanied by pain relief and involve endorphins. They also found that often there can be a link between the level of certain neurotransmitters in the synaptic gaps and the various mental states. Furthermore, brain mapping reveals that the human hand, although relatively only a small section of the body, has a large area of representation in the cerebral cortex, both in the motor and sensory sections. This means that your hands, including your fingers, can perceive an enormous amount of information to and from your brain. These findings may give us a clue as to why anticipated changes in the state of mind may be achieved rapidly with Palmtherapy. It may explain why through the simple stimulation of selected lines and areas in the hand, which in scientific palmistry represent various mental activities and characteristics of the personality, amazing results can be achieved. For example, activation of certain lines on the palms can induce an instant relaxation, while stimulation of other lines may evoke negative childhood memories. Other areas of stimulation accelerate mental alertness, vitality, concentration, memory, talents, planning and decision making, and features which are vital for fulfillment and success. These may be the result of chemical changes and other physiological processes that are achieved through the stimulation of specific lines and areas in the hand, in a similar way that researchers of the brain, were able to arouse rapid changes in thinking and behavior from emotions of overwhelming dread to pleasure and well-being through the stimulation of certain areas in the brain.
I'm familiar with Hand Reflexology and Korean Hand Therapy/Acupuncture. What's the difference between Palm
therapy and these methods?
There are two main differences:
  1. Palmtherapy focuses on the mental emotional aspects of the individual, on problem solving and improving quality of life. While the other hand stimulation therapies focus mainly on the physical well-being and only to a lesser degree on the mental aspects of the person.
  2. Palmtherapy focuses on the visual aspects of the hands such as the lines of palms and certain mounts of the hands. While the other hand therapies focus on sensitive spots and areas of the hands that can be detected with simple pressure of the spot or with the aid of electronic acupuncture point detector.
You may wonder how it is possible that several methods are based on the same human hands and each one works and claims to be unique! The answer is in the Super Hand Meridian System. Palmtherapy book presents the Super Hand Meridians System, an enormous, netlike energy pathways, which part of it was first described by Joseph Calligaris, M.D., psychiatrist and a professor of neurology, Italy, 1876-1944. Each one of the hand stimulation techniques, including Palmtherapy, uses only certain parts of this netlike energy pathways, but each with its unique way of application. Palmtherapy, for example, focuses on the visual lines of the palms of the hands which actually represent some of the energy pathways of this Super Hand Meridians System. Hand reflexology uses some of the longitudinal energy pathways from this system, while traditional Acupuncture and Koreans Hand Therapy/Acupuncture uses others. Although each method works and create great proven results, non of these techniques uses all of the energy pathways seen in the Super Hand Meridians System. This explains how various hand stimulation techniques can coexist. But there is overlapping of meridians used therefore a stimulation which, for example, is designed to relieve a toothache by one method, may also release some emotional distress mentioned by the other method and visa versa.
Does Palm
therapy deal with psychotic disorders?
Although Palmtherapy seems to be effective in a wide range of psychotic situations, do not attempt to treat by yourself such disorders. The cooperation and supervision of a competent psychiatrist and/or medical doctor is necessary. There are many reasons for this suggestion, such as:
  1. In most cases of psychotic problems there is a need to control and/or reduce the onset of the attacks with medications which can be provided only by a competent psychiatrist/ medical doctor.
  2. Some aspects of the psychotic problem might be hidden from the individual and therefore may be neglected and not treated.
  3. There might be a hidden physical/medical problem that either provokes or complicates the mental/psychotic aspect. For example hypoglycemia or thyroid imbalance may trigger anxiety attacks. We strongly recommend that a complete medical check up will be done by your healthcare provider before starting Palmtherapy or any other therapy.
